On the Road, La Jolla, CA - 8/14/2016

This morning we left the Castaic campground and resumed our trip south to La Jolla.  This will be a short day as we only have about 150 miles to go.  That's good because as we drove south I remembered why I was so happy to leave the LA area, too many people and too much traffic.  It was a Sunday but we were still in traffic jams and congestion a lot of the time.  Can't imagine what it must be during a weekday rush hour.

There was nothing to see but hordes of cars and trucks and lots of concrete until we got south of the LA area.  Then we drove along the shoreline and it was much nicer.  Did get to see a squad of Marines running some exercise as we passed through Camp Pendleton.  Pendleton is home of the Marine Corps 1st Division and encompasses over 125,000 acres.  It was established in 1942 to train marines for combat in WW II.

Eventually we arrived in La Jolla where we will be visiting my Mom, sister Chris and brother-in-law Neal.  We will be staying here a week and will be getting some service done on the RV.

Here is an aerial shot that I was able to download of their place.  The're located in the hills above La Jolla and have a view of the ocean from their windows.

They have a gated entrance but unfortunately it is only 10 ft. high while our RV needs at least 12-1/2 ft. so we will be leaving it parked on the street.  I was able to schedule service for our RV with the local Winnebago dealer so we will be taking it over to the dealer to get an oil change and some minor stuff fixed under warranty.  It will also get washed as after almost 8 weeks on the road and almost 6,000 miles it's pretty dirty.
